Autumn Favourites!

Published November 14, 2015 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

I HAVE BEEN AWFUL AT POSTING. But the last few months I’ve gotten a lot done.

I completed my AS exams and got all A’s (Biology, Maths, Physics, Chemistry) and I’ve applied to 5 universites (Warwick, Exeter, Bath, Southampton, Surrey) to do either a Bachelors or Masters in Biomedical science, and I’ve got offers from all! Over the summer I also completed a 100 hour open university course in Human genetics and health issues.

So it’s been busy busy.

But today I got inspired to do a talky post so I thought I’d do an autumn favourites!

 1) LUSH Helping Hands hand cream £7.951126

I picked this up about a month ago, because somehow all my hand creams disappeared. I thought it’d be best get to get a more natural product because in my head I thought it’d be more moisturising. Its very good and sinks in quite quickly. Its the first time in ages that my hands havent felt all dry and crusty.

2) MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle £24.0011271128

Must say, I’m not a huge fan on the new MAC mineralize packaging, but sacrifices have to be made!

Its a really pretty beigey-champagne, that looks great as an eyeshadow or highlight. I’ve recently been loving highlighting my cupids bow when im wearing lipstick as it makes my lips look more pouty & fierce.

The highlighter is very versatile too, you can get really subtle and really dramatic looks with it. As im not a huge highlighter person I usually only use a bit on my cheeks. Plus you get a butt-tonne of product!

3) MUA Mosaic Blush- English Rose £2.50

11311132

This remains one of my cheapest and favourite blushes in my collection, and is actually a recent repurchase (hence it not looking too shabby!). What I love with this blush is that the colour comes off as a natural rosy-pink but when the light hits it it has a lilac sheen which is GORGEOUS.

Even when using some more high-end makeup, I still layer this over the top sometimes. Even with my oily skin, it gives a pearly finish that I can actually tolerate.

At £2.50 you can’t go wrong, and it may even work its way up into your daily makeup routine.

4) Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette- Nude Grey £3.99

11341135

My next favourite is this palette from collection. Collection have really reinvented themselves as a brand in the last year, and this palette is no exception.

What particularly makes me happy about this palette is that there’s a matte highlight shade, and a matte black. It really has all the colours I would use for a neutral eyeshadow look. I only bought this because I’ve recently dyed my hair black and thought cool tones might look better, and Im so glad I have this now!

Again, when it’s only £3.99 it’s a steal, and would make a great stocking stuff at christmas too. Yes I’m one of those people with early christmas fever.

5) Eyelure pro-brow dye kit- black £7.50

11291120

As I recently dyed my hair black (see above) I needed to dye my eyebrows black too. This was just before I dyed them black, but as you can see they looked a bit out of place with my hair.

And I found this eyebrow dyed was really easy to use, and didn’t dye my skin black when I used it.

I thought i’d never see the day when I dyed my eyebrows…

6) Necklace

 1130

I thought i’d just add this in, because I find with autumn/winter, I wear a lot of darker clothes so I tend to bring a bit of brightness with this necklace sometimes.

I got this at a vintage emporium for 99p.  NINETY NINE PENCE OH MY. That’s what i’d clarify as a ‘Bangin’ deal’.

So yeah, GO BUY YOURSELF A BRIGHT NECKLACE. BRIGHTEN THE WORLD.

So that’s it for my autumn favourites, What things have you been loving recently?

Thanks for reading!

Prom get ready with me 26/06/14

Published June 27, 2014 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

I appologize for not posting in forever, long story short I had lots of exams and have really bad anxiety, so I had about a month of no sleep. But the exams are over now and im gradually dealing with anxiety.

Now for the exciting stuff, yesterday I had my prom. And whilst prom is often built up to be more than it is, I enjoyed getting ready and 4 hours with new and old friends at prom.

As always, I’ll post the finished makeup look first. SAM_7149

Now to start with no makeup!

Image

Foundation (believe it or not I tried not to over-do it with foundation).

Image

Concealer, under my eyes and a bit on my cheeks so ‘blank out’ my skin colour so I could add in colour later with bronzer and blush.

Image

Translucent Powder

Image

Eyebrow wax, powder and setting gel.  This is a monumental moment because I actually like how my eyebrows look here.Image

Eye primer

Image

All that glitters eyeshadow all over the lid and on my lower lashline.Image

Woodwinked in the crease.

Image

Satin taupe in the outer crease and lid. I also put it on the outer half of my lower lashline.Image

Browbone highlight with Brule.   *unexpected lighting change*Image

Now for an inner corner highlight!Image

Now for liquid liner on my top lashline and black gel liner on my waterline (Because yano apparantly I cant do anything different with eyeliner).

Image

Next for my favourite part, Mascara and eyelashes. I can even tell you how much I love Ardell demi wispie lashes.

Image

Bronzer time.

Image

Neext I apllied a darker contour colour and placed it under my cheekbones and under my chin (because I dont recommended double chins for prom).

Image

Now for a bit of matte coral blush on the apples of my cheeks. I blend it back into the contour so it all blends into eachother.

Image

All thats left is lipstick. Im not the biggest fan of lipgloss so I skipped on that. Image

For my hair, I curled it in sections and back-combed the hair surrounding my face. I then used a ton of hairspray, potentially enough to create another ozone layer.

Image

I promised to show what I was wearing in an earlier blog posted when I briefly talked about prom. I had a bit of an adventure finding dresses. The one im wearing was actually my third prom dress. The first I saw in person but they didnt have my size so I ordered it online (it was by Jane Norman by the way). The next I got from Victorias dress, £25 shipping (I almost died when I saw that) and £70 for a custom made dress which was completely different from the picture and made me look like an obese fairy it was this one > http://www.victoriasdress.co.uk/a-line-high-neck-sleeveless-tulle-party-dresses-with-ruffles-fj921.html

In a third attempt for a prom dress, I went shopping in person and despite it not being very prom-like I bought a flamingo dress by the brand Henry Holland.

So here are some pictures I took before I went to prom:

Midnight Glitz! An edgy makeup style…

Published June 26, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

First of all id like to thank all the people who liked my last post, and say a big welcome to my new followers!

Today I was just playing round and I seemed to end up with a midnight, glam, rocker look.  Which I think looks real edgy and fun. So heres some pictures. I think everyone can pull this look off, just work with what you have.

Image

I used a variety of eyeshadows from the Naked Palette, and then I packed some of NYX’s glitter cream on top. I used a black gel liner from elf, and rimmels scandal eyes mascara which I just did a reveiw on.Image

I use a plum lipliner to liner and fill in my lips, to make my lips bigger I draw outside my natural lip line. Because who doesn’t want bigger lips? I apply collection 2000 lip cream in Cotton candy, with a bit of avons colortrend lipgloss in angel.  I blend this over the top.

NOW FOR THE BEST PART! NAILS!ImageImage

I love this combo! I paint 2 coats of black nail polish, then a polish from rimmel with blue and silver glitter in it.

I found this clutch in my collection, and this sort of inspired all the eyes, lips and nails. Its so beautiful and its an avril lavinge bag. I got when I bought her ‘black star’ perfume – which I love too! Image

I love the studs!

What did you think of the edgy/ rocker look? Would you try it on a night out?

Thanks for reading guys! xoxo

Fashion Fix! – Brighter season, Brighter style!

Published June 3, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

Today I am gonna do my first fashion post, Im kinda nervous of your opinions, as ive never done this before, so any feedback will of course be welcome! I was having a rather chilled day, so I thought id brighten it up by wearing some ever-so-bright clothes!

It has been getting warmer recently so I thought I’d introduce some brighter pieces into my wardrobe. I bought the top and jeans yesterday, so they are available in shops now. I tend to stick to more neutral colours but I thought Id try some new things out. YOLO.

I also dyed my hair today, what do you think?ImageImage

ImageImage

Top: New look £7.99

Jeans: Primark £11

Necklace: dorathy perkins £10

Nails: rimmel 60 seconds- 430 Coralicious

This outfit was inspired by the aztec trend and the neon/pastle trend.

I did neutral makeup (as the clothes were so bright)

I did the nails to follow the neon trend, to complement the outfit, AND to fulfill my love for corals (and im sure you’ve figured that out by now!)

Hope you enjoyed my post! Feedback always welcome.

How don you change your wardrobe in summer?

Pop Your Pout!

Published May 31, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So today,to get in the summery mood, I thought Id do a post about swapping your neutral lipstick for a bright one. I Spent time looking through my lipsticks to find some colours which work for all skin tones

Often when we do ‘summer makeup’ we just go for a barely-there look, which to me doesn’t feel that summery at all. You can still do neutral makeup but maybe just a pop on the eyes or lips. In the summer I prefer putting a pop of colour on my lips which you can match with your nail polish or just your overall outfit. So here you go, 3 pics of bright lipsticks that brighten up not only your face but your day and outfit as a whole! 🙂

ImageImageImage

These pictures are without flash, so the colours dont look as bright, here a swatch of the lip sticks in flash.Image

left to right:

Sleek true colour lipstick – candycane £4.00

L’oreal rouge caresse lipstick- impulsive fuchsia £7.99

Mac lipstick- New York apple £13.50

Hope you enjoyed and maybe thinking to use a bright lipstick in your makeup routine soon. Have  a great week!

ELF Haul!

Published May 10, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

so earlier today my elf stuff arrived in the post. My order contained 9 items and a mystery spring bundle (containing 3 items from a random selection, there were 4 pre-designed gift sets and you got a random one given to you).

What I ordered:

Natural false lashes – black

Natural false lashes – brown

Lipstick – seductive

studio cream eyeliner – black

Studio matte lip colour – natural

Studio blush – gotta glow

Mystery Bag

Studio wrinkle refiner (my mum wanted)

Eyelid primer – sheer (my mum wanted)

Therapeutic conditioning lip balm – sheer (for my friend klara)

Image

Now my stuff 😀Image

And finally heres what I found in my mystery bag! Image

What it included:

.shimmer eyeliner pencil – gun metal

.brightening eye color – Brownstone

.nail varnish – desert haze

I like all the things I got. I literally ripped the cardboard box (with the elf goodies in) to shreds.

This was about my 5th or 6th time ive ordered from elf, and I havent ever been majorly disappointed. The products are always amazing for their price, how do they do it? I always think how do elf product a pigmented eyeshadow palette for £1.50, and brands like Revlon can barely do that for £7 plus!

Here are some swatches: first with flash, second without:

ImageImage

from left to right: studio matte lip color, lipstick, studio blush (gotta glow), black cream liner, skimmering eye pencil, eyeshadow quad.

The nail varnish! Image

I dont on many nude colours, I usually got for really fun, bright shade. But im glad I have a nude now, I can experiement!

The verdict:

Would I recommend elf? – Yes, I think it’s a great way to get products worth your money, it’s also a good way to try out really bright/daring shades that you wouldn’t want to spend too much money on incase you don’t like it!

Am I pleased and would I order again? – Definately!

I hope you enjoyed my post, thank y’all for reading!

Haul! – Avon, Body Shop, Lush, Superdrug, New Look, Primark, Accessorize…….

Published April 11, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

So today, my Avon arrived which I was happy about, since it had been 2 weeks since I put in my order. I even began to forget what I had ordered! I also went shopping the same day with one of my friends, and there seemed to be very good deals on…..

I am going to do this post in 2 sections, one for avon one for my shopping 🙂

ImageHere is the stuff I got! I am going to start of with the shopping stuff.

ImageI am going to go through each of the items by store, just for your information. So, lets start with the Body Shop! I bought 3 items and got 1 sample. Body shop had a very good deal on. The woman who worked there was handing out these pieces of card with a little pot attached to it, which is where you can ask for a sample of any thing in the store. The card also had a £3 off anything vouched on it, with, wait for it…. a notice saying no minimum spend! This means you could get a product under £3 for free! I actually got 2 lipbalms (as you can see by the pictures below), they smell absolutely gorgeous. I have the strawberry one but I have almost ran out so i decided to get 2 new ones. I got the raspberry flavoured one and the orange flavoured one (I used the voucher and got both of them for £1, as they are usually £2 each). I then got the tea tree skin clearing face wash, I have bought this before. I bought this later on in the day, on my second trip to the body shop. So I used another voucher and got it for just £1.50. I f you were wondering I got a sample of orange body butter, smells so nice!ImageHere’s what the actual product looks like. ImageThen I went to Lush. I havent been to lush in ages , so I bought a few items and I got some items given to me for free (though they were broken). ImageI bought: You’ve been mangoed bath melt (£2.95), Sugar Scrub (£2.75), Mask of Magnaminty 125g (£4.75), Fizzbanger bath ballistic (free, as it was damaged, but still just as good)

The people at lush were really sweet as usual, and cheered my day up, especially as it was raining outside. You’ve been mangoed has a really nice citrusy smell which is lovely, Sugar Scrub has a really fresh scent, Mask of magnaminty has a fresh, minty scent and finally fizzbanger has a cinnamon-apple scent. I may do a reveiw of the mask of magnaminty, to let you guys know if it really works and helps clear up acne etc.

ImageI got this little ring that says ‘love’ in very dainty writing. I thought it was gorgeous sinceas most of my rings are quite chunky. I will definately be wearing this often. I was £5 from accessorize.

ImageFrom Superdrug I bought a Nivea lip blam (which I had ran out of), and i bought a burgandy liner from sleek . The nivea lipbalm was just under £2, and the liner from sleek was £3.99. It claims to be waterproof and smudgeproof which is good and it is very pidmented. Heres a very cool swatch ImageNext I went to new look and they had buy on get one free on all jewellery and hair accessories, so I gladly took advantage of this offer and got a cute bracelet and pretty necklace. I think they’d both be gorgeous for spring ImageLast thing I got was from Primark, I got these awesome coral pumps with a bow detailing on the front. They were £5, and when I was there they had them in: Yellow, Turquoise, Coral and Nude. Image*I know they look more pink on camera but they really are a coral colour.

Avon Haul:

Image*Items: paddle brush, Comb, Angled contour brush, true colour blush (in Earthen rose), Colortrend lipgloss (in angel), supershock eyeliner (in blackened metal) and Solutions complete balance day cream- oil-free mattifier spf15.

If you want a reveiw on any of the products mensioned or any reveiws in general, please feel free to comment. Sorry for the very long post, atleast it was mainly pictures, right?

Thank you for reading
