Autumn Favourites!

Published November 14, 2015 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

I HAVE BEEN AWFUL AT POSTING. But the last few months I’ve gotten a lot done.

I completed my AS exams and got all A’s (Biology, Maths, Physics, Chemistry) and I’ve applied to 5 universites (Warwick, Exeter, Bath, Southampton, Surrey) to do either a Bachelors or Masters in Biomedical science, and I’ve got offers from all! Over the summer I also completed a 100 hour open university course in Human genetics and health issues.

So it’s been busy busy.

But today I got inspired to do a talky post so I thought I’d do an autumn favourites!

 1) LUSH Helping Hands hand cream £7.951126

I picked this up about a month ago, because somehow all my hand creams disappeared. I thought it’d be best get to get a more natural product because in my head I thought it’d be more moisturising. Its very good and sinks in quite quickly. Its the first time in ages that my hands havent felt all dry and crusty.

2) MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle £24.0011271128

Must say, I’m not a huge fan on the new MAC mineralize packaging, but sacrifices have to be made!

Its a really pretty beigey-champagne, that looks great as an eyeshadow or highlight. I’ve recently been loving highlighting my cupids bow when im wearing lipstick as it makes my lips look more pouty & fierce.

The highlighter is very versatile too, you can get really subtle and really dramatic looks with it. As im not a huge highlighter person I usually only use a bit on my cheeks. Plus you get a butt-tonne of product!

3) MUA Mosaic Blush- English Rose £2.50

11311132

This remains one of my cheapest and favourite blushes in my collection, and is actually a recent repurchase (hence it not looking too shabby!). What I love with this blush is that the colour comes off as a natural rosy-pink but when the light hits it it has a lilac sheen which is GORGEOUS.

Even when using some more high-end makeup, I still layer this over the top sometimes. Even with my oily skin, it gives a pearly finish that I can actually tolerate.

At £2.50 you can’t go wrong, and it may even work its way up into your daily makeup routine.

4) Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette- Nude Grey £3.99

11341135

My next favourite is this palette from collection. Collection have really reinvented themselves as a brand in the last year, and this palette is no exception.

What particularly makes me happy about this palette is that there’s a matte highlight shade, and a matte black. It really has all the colours I would use for a neutral eyeshadow look. I only bought this because I’ve recently dyed my hair black and thought cool tones might look better, and Im so glad I have this now!

Again, when it’s only £3.99 it’s a steal, and would make a great stocking stuff at christmas too. Yes I’m one of those people with early christmas fever.

5) Eyelure pro-brow dye kit- black £7.50

11291120

As I recently dyed my hair black (see above) I needed to dye my eyebrows black too. This was just before I dyed them black, but as you can see they looked a bit out of place with my hair.

And I found this eyebrow dyed was really easy to use, and didn’t dye my skin black when I used it.

I thought i’d never see the day when I dyed my eyebrows…

6) Necklace

 1130

I thought i’d just add this in, because I find with autumn/winter, I wear a lot of darker clothes so I tend to bring a bit of brightness with this necklace sometimes.

I got this at a vintage emporium for 99p.  NINETY NINE PENCE OH MY. That’s what i’d clarify as a ‘Bangin’ deal’.

So yeah, GO BUY YOURSELF A BRIGHT NECKLACE. BRIGHTEN THE WORLD.

So that’s it for my autumn favourites, What things have you been loving recently?

Thanks for reading!

Tutorial Time- How I contour and highlight!

Published March 5, 2013 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So I felt like doing a tutorial and was thinking what to do, when I realised I hadn’t done one of the most basic tutorials. Contouring! Even though its quite simple, it can make a big difference to the way your face looks.

Contouring depends on your face shape (mine is round), you may want to go stronger or lighter. If you already have prominent features you may not need to do much beside blush! As I have a round face (not much definition) I use: Bronzer, Blush and Highlighter (the products I used are at the bottom on the post).

Here is the before and afters: ImageImage

I did the tutorial in Flash , so the pictures may look a bit scary. :O

1) First I use my bronzer and put it where I want my face to look slimmer. I use it down the sides of my nose, and in a sideways ‘V’ shape under my cheekbone and the sides of my temples. You can also use it along the hairline. Image

2) Next I do blush. I do my blush before highlight because if I use a blush with shimmer, you don’t really want a glitter overload! I used a matte blush today therefore I will also apply highlight. Its a good rule to follow if you want your contouring to look natural. I apply it on my cheek, not really my apples. I don’t like too much colour in the centre of my face. Image

3) Now for the final touch- highlighter. You don’t always have to use a product designed for highlighting, you can use a light face powder if you don’t want to go shimmery. I just apply this mainly to my cheekbone. I used what’s left down the centre of my nose and my cupids bow. Image

And I just realised I haven’t done my brows! *Gasp*

Here are the products I used:

.avon bronzer in medium riviera

.Sleek blush in Pixie Pink

.Elf blush in Gotta glow

Smokey eyes which suit EVERYONE!

Published December 1, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So today Im gonna show you a look which suits everyone. Its not the most dramatic smokey eye, but that’s how I like it best. Then it gives you the option to go for a brighter lip colour or a more neutral lip.  The eyeshadow palette im going to use is the NYX One Night in Morocco. I thought it would be easier to show you a picture of the shadows, so you know the exact shade im using. 010

1) First I apply the dark champagne colour (bottom right) all over my lid and into my crease. stopping just below the brow. 011

2) Next I apply the medium grey colour across my lid. I don’t put it near the inner corner of my eye. It is the top right colour in the palette. 012

3) I then blend the dark champagne colour and medium grey together. I smudge a dark grey into my lashline, and blend.  The grey I use is is on the bottom line of palette. 013

4) I then line my top and bottom lashline with a black kohl pencil .I use one from rimmel. It doesnt have to be neat. Then blend with a smudge brush to give a ‘Smokey ‘ look.017

5) I then apply a highlight under my brow (white from the palette) and a silver shadow in the inner corners (not from palette). 020

6) Lastly Mascara! I use Maybelline falsies! 021

Thats the finished look! This look suit pretty much every eye shape and colour. It also suits all ages as the shadows are matte.

Almond eyes and standard eye shapes can pretty much get away with anything. But for some  eye shapes like a hooded eye, you cant put anything really dark in the crease. So we use the darkest colours at the lashline.

The eyeshadow doesnt focus too much on the outer corner or inner corner either so people with Wide set eyes or Close set eyes can wear it too!

I matched the look with Plum colours.

I use sleek blush in Pomegranate and mac lipstick in plumful.

Here’s me wearing it. The first photo is with flash, the rest are without: 034

ELF Haul!

Published May 10, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

so earlier today my elf stuff arrived in the post. My order contained 9 items and a mystery spring bundle (containing 3 items from a random selection, there were 4 pre-designed gift sets and you got a random one given to you).

What I ordered:

Natural false lashes – black

Natural false lashes – brown

Lipstick – seductive

studio cream eyeliner – black

Studio matte lip colour – natural

Studio blush – gotta glow

Mystery Bag

Studio wrinkle refiner (my mum wanted)

Eyelid primer – sheer (my mum wanted)

Therapeutic conditioning lip balm – sheer (for my friend klara)

Image

Now my stuff 😀Image

And finally heres what I found in my mystery bag! Image

What it included:

.shimmer eyeliner pencil – gun metal

.brightening eye color – Brownstone

.nail varnish – desert haze

I like all the things I got. I literally ripped the cardboard box (with the elf goodies in) to shreds.

This was about my 5th or 6th time ive ordered from elf, and I havent ever been majorly disappointed. The products are always amazing for their price, how do they do it? I always think how do elf product a pigmented eyeshadow palette for £1.50, and brands like Revlon can barely do that for £7 plus!

Here are some swatches: first with flash, second without:

ImageImage

from left to right: studio matte lip color, lipstick, studio blush (gotta glow), black cream liner, skimmering eye pencil, eyeshadow quad.

The nail varnish! Image

I dont on many nude colours, I usually got for really fun, bright shade. But im glad I have a nude now, I can experiement!

The verdict:

Would I recommend elf? – Yes, I think it’s a great way to get products worth your money, it’s also a good way to try out really bright/daring shades that you wouldn’t want to spend too much money on incase you don’t like it!

Am I pleased and would I order again? – Definately!

I hope you enjoyed my post, thank y’all for reading!

You Ready For It??? -My Makeup Collection!

Published April 22, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Ok, so I still havent foun d MY camera, so im using my parents one, it isn’t great, but its better than my ipod or blackberry camera atleast. I personally reading makeup collections posts and videos so I though id do mine. DISCLAIMER: I am in no shape or form bragging about my makeup, I just find these posts interesting to read. I am very grateful for what I have and  have bought everything you see with my own money unless it’s a gift.

So now with the collection! Heres a full veiw of what my storage system looks like. I have clear plastic draws and every draw has 2 pink baskets in to organise my items better (apart from the top draw of each unit). I havent showed everything in their baskets as you cant see all the products sometimes as they are on top of eachother. Im not going to name everything aswell, as i cant remember all the names- I will name most of the products though.ImageThis storage thing of makeup, sits nicely on my desh next to my purfumes and lamp (if your interested in a purfume collection comment below). I keep my brushes on top of my storage, and and have some brushes in a brush belt under my naked palette. I also have a pink basket filled with random tools, leaflets and samples, here a picture.ImageThis pictures not very good, but the basket mainly contains: spare sponges, a victoria jackson makeup how-to booklet, my eyelash curlers, some samples, a colour wheel, leaflets and an empty mac concealer (for back to mac).

Here’s how i organise my brushes. ImageAs mensioned earlier I have a few more brushes in my brush belt but, I dont use them very often. These are the brushes I use the most. My collection mainly consists of: elf, ecotools, superdrug and no 7 brushes. I also have 2 pairs of tweezers here which I think both came from superdrug – Ive had them for about 2 years so I cant remember fully. I also think its a good idea to have a wash cloth on yout storage unit as you can wipe your brushes on it.

My first draw consists of base products. ImageProducts: witch hazel primer, No7 shine free primer, gosh xceptional wear, Max factor second skin, 3 rimmel stay matte’s, stila stick, maybeling dream matte mouse, lush colour supplement, bourjois healthy mix, bourjois healthy mix serum, benefit you rebel tinted moisturizer, revlon colorstay, laura mercier silk creme, 17 concealer- green, maybeline 24h concealer, maybeline stick concealer, collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer.

I must of accidently deleted the picture of my powders- woops! 🙂  I had the loreal true match powder, a few elf ones, a nyc powder foundation, a 17 powder, collection 2000 powder, and a few others.

Now with my blushes and bronzers! ImagePorducts: mac blushes in warm soul and fleur power, clinique blushing blush powder blush in precious posy (what a mouthful!), sleek blush in pixie pink, 17 blush in damson wine, 17 blush/highlighter in strawberry& cream, and a few others (which the names clearly show)

now eyeshadows (mac, neutral, coloured) Imageproducts: sushi flower, fresh water, plum dressing, all that glitters, beauty marked, yogurt, satin taupe, brule and bare study paintpot.
