Prom get ready with me 26/06/14

Published June 27, 2014 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

I appologize for not posting in forever, long story short I had lots of exams and have really bad anxiety, so I had about a month of no sleep. But the exams are over now and im gradually dealing with anxiety.

Now for the exciting stuff, yesterday I had my prom. And whilst prom is often built up to be more than it is, I enjoyed getting ready and 4 hours with new and old friends at prom.

As always, I’ll post the finished makeup look first. SAM_7149

Now to start with no makeup!

Foundation (believe it or not I tried not to over-do it with foundation).

Concealer, under my eyes and a bit on my cheeks so ‘blank out’ my skin colour so I could add in colour later with bronzer and blush.

Translucent Powder

Eyebrow wax, powder and setting gel.  This is a monumental moment because I actually like how my eyebrows look here.Image

Eye primer

All that glitters eyeshadow all over the lid and on my lower lashline.Image

Woodwinked in the crease.

Satin taupe in the outer crease and lid. I also put it on the outer half of my lower lashline.Image

Browbone highlight with Brule.   *unexpected lighting change*Image

Now for an inner corner highlight!Image

Now for liquid liner on my top lashline and black gel liner on my waterline (Because yano apparantly I cant do anything different with eyeliner).

Next for my favourite part, Mascara and eyelashes. I can even tell you how much I love Ardell demi wispie lashes.

Bronzer time.

Neext I apllied a darker contour colour and placed it under my cheekbones and under my chin (because I dont recommended double chins for prom).

Now for a bit of matte coral blush on the apples of my cheeks. I blend it back into the contour so it all blends into eachother.

All thats left is lipstick. Im not the biggest fan of lipgloss so I skipped on that. Image

For my hair, I curled it in sections and back-combed the hair surrounding my face. I then used a ton of hairspray, potentially enough to create another ozone layer.

I promised to show what I was wearing in an earlier blog posted when I briefly talked about prom. I had a bit of an adventure finding dresses. The one im wearing was actually my third prom dress. The first I saw in person but they didnt have my size so I ordered it online (it was by Jane Norman by the way). The next I got from Victorias dress, £25 shipping (I almost died when I saw that) and £70 for a custom made dress which was completely different from the picture and made me look like an obese fairy it was this one > http://www.victoriasdress.co.uk/a-line-high-neck-sleeveless-tulle-party-dresses-with-ruffles-fj921.html

In a third attempt for a prom dress, I went shopping in person and despite it not being very prom-like I bought a flamingo dress by the brand Henry Holland.

So here are some pictures I took before I went to prom:

Selena Gomez Inspired makeup tutorial!

Published November 20, 2013 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So on sunday I was having a play around with makeup as I won a bundle of makeup with elf. I really wanted to use the ELF glitter eyeshadow in the colour Flirt. So I decided to flim a tutorial as I go, but when I was thinking of what to call this post I had a break through and was like ‘THIS REMINDS ME OF SELENA GOMEZ, SO A SELENA GOMEZ MAKEUP TUTORIAL IT SHALL BECOME’.

This is what the finished result looks like: Image

^ I didn’t even realize but there is a slightly slutty bra strap showing!

Ok now for the tutorial:

1) Starting with clean lids, apply and eyeprimer and a cream eyeshadow. The cream eyeshadow is only to prolong the powder shadows because lets face it, makeup tends to hate those with oily skin. Image

2) Next I apply the eyeshadow in ‘flirt’ which I talked about earlier. I expected it to be SO much more glittery, but its fine. Apply this shadow to your entire lid and under your bottom lashline. Image

3) Next I apply a medium purple to my crease. Id recommend using a matte shadow in the crease when doing a bright look as it adds definition and in my opinion its more flattering. Image

4) Now add a black shadow to your outer corner. This makes the look more smokey and blends out the purples. Image

5) Next apply a black liquid liner to your top lashline and a black gel liner to your waterline. YEP, NO SURPRISE HERE.Image

6) Next apply a sliver glitter liner to your inner corner. I think silver looks really nice with this purple as they’re both cool tones. And, who doesn’t love a bit of glitter near christmas? Image

7) Next curl your lashes and apply 2 coats of mascara. Image

8) False Lash Time! Im not using my usual lashes. These ones look a bit more…fake? They’re definitely more voluminous I can tell you that!

9) Next I contour and apply a pink blush. Image

10) Next for the red lips! I was debating whether to use a lip liner or not, but I decided not to. I just applied the lipstick with more care than usual. I like this red as it has a slight brown undertone which makes it more wearable for those of us who dont want a neon red pout.

Heres the finished look!

Products used:

. Revlon colorstay foundation normal/dry- Buff

. Collection lasting perfection concealer- Light

. Rimmel stay matte powder- 03

.Sleek contour kit- Medium

.Nyx powder blush- Peach

.Smashbox brow tech- taupe/soft brown

.Too Faced shadow insurance

.Elf glitter eyeshadow- Flirt

.L’oreal colour riche eyeshadow quad- Disco Smoking (purple + black)

.Mac eyeshadow- Brule

.Collection 24hour liquid liner- black

.Avon supershock gel eyeliner pencil- black

.Maybelline Rocket mascara- black

.Tmart lashes

Thanks for reading, I hope you all have a fabulous week!

My favourite everyday eye!- Tutorial

Published June 11, 2013 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So today I am going to do my favourite everyday look. I put ‘Favourite every day eye’ instead of ‘My every day eye’ because I change the makeup I wear on my eyes pretty much everyday, because I feel bad not using the other stuff I own. But this is no doubt my favourite, and a more polished and put together eye look than I may normally do.

So lets get started with the tutorial!

1) Prime your eyes with your favourite eye primer. As its summer I then apply a waterproof cream eyeshadow over the top to make my shadows last extra long,in the summer heat. Image

2) Next I apply a peachy-gold eyeshadow across my entire lid, and lower lashline. I then take a shimmery brown and apply it on the outer third of my lid and lower lashline. Image

3) Then take a matte dark brown shadow through your crease. I then blend it upwards to make my eyes look slighty smokey. After this I apply a matte highlight under my brow bone.Image

4) Then taking a brown gel eyeliner I draw a thin line on my top lash line (Getting slightly thicker towards the outer edge) and apply it on my waterline (Inside my eye).Image

5) I then curl my lashes and apply 2 coats of black mascara to my lashes. Mascara on the bottom lashes is optional, however I like the look of it.Image

And that my eye look. When ive done the rest of my makeup… 10 hours later… It looks like this! ImageImage

Products used:

.Too Faced shadow insurance

.Benefit  creaseless cream shadow- R.S.V.P

.Mac eyeshadow- All that glitters

.Too Faced Natural eye palette (I used the shades: Heaven, push up and Sexspresso)

.Maybelline gel eyeliner – brown

.Clinique lash doubling mascara – Black

I hope you enjoyed, have a good week. 🙂

Who wants their make-up to last all day? -Everyone…

Published January 31, 2013 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So I noticed today that my makeup had lasted longer than it usually does and it inspired me to give tips on making your makeup last all day! ImageImage

^ My makeup after 13 hours.

So here’s my tips:

. Prepare your skin before foundation. Cleanse and moisturise then wait at least 10 minutes before putting your foundation on to let the moisturiser sink in. Your foundation will last longer.

. If using eyeliner, got for liquid liner. It has 4 times the staying powder compared to pencil.

. For eyeshadow. Layer primer, cream eyeshadow, then powder shadow for a long-lasting vibrant shade.

. A great tip is to ‘sandwich’ your makeup. Build up intensity in layers, don’t whack it all on at once. Then it will take longer to wear off.

. Heated eyelash curlers will make the curl on your lashes last longer. Think about it, hot rollers are more effective than regular rollers.

. Layer cream and powder blush. I did this with elf products in the same shade. Make sure the shades match, Liz Earle match their cream and powder blush shades!

. If in doubt, use waterproof products!

Those are some of my tips for long lasting makeup. Hope you enjoyed! 😀

Elf baked Eyeshadow reveiw!

Published November 5, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Happy Monday Love bugs! (cheesy I know)

So I mentioned yesterday I was having an elf phase, and considering my order came this morning , it continued! Ive still got my prize to come in the post yet, but I loved ,my stuff.

The mystery bag was also great (black nail polish, green shadowstick and liner and cream liner in plumish purple colour). The lip gloss and blush were like the same colour aswell! But the main reason I ordered was for these babies! Image

Wow was I impressed! Ive already trialled eye looks with them! The only let down I can think of is the packaging. I tend to think clear plastic on makeup looks tacky. If im ever lucky enough to have my own makeup line I can assure you clear plastic? A no no.

However when they are open they look lovely Image

Left to Right: Pixie, Enchanted, Toasted, Burnt Plum.

Elf released 6 baked shadows a few days ago, I have 4. They are incredibly pigmented, and boy do you get a lot of product ,It has 3.5g, which in a normal eyeshadow you would expect between 1.5g – 2g. Elf is known for its amazing prices but when you get loads of product in return, it makes it a must-have!

Here are the swatches: ImageImage

I am throughly impressed with this product, the only thing im not a fan of is the packaging. And even then, its the product that counts.

If I could only get one I would recommend ‘Burnt Plum’, however they are all good. Burnt plum is the richest and most gorgeous colour though.

Would I buy again? – Yes I may even have to get the other 2 colours!

Packaging: 6/10

Pigmentation: 7.5/10

Long-wearing: 8/10

Overall: 8/10

Top 5 under £5!

Published August 21, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So we all love it when we find a makeup product we love, but what’s even better…when its cheap! So here are my favourite products that are under £5!

1) Collection 2000 Glam crystal glitter liners.

Ive used these for about 2 years now, not everyday but when I want an extra bit of sparkle. I love to replace my typical black liquid liner with these for a blast of colour. They are £2.99 each, which is great considering they are long-lasting, well pigmented and generally just fun for experimenting with.

(left to right Glitz, Funk, Dancing Queen)

2) Maybelline Color tattoo eyeshadows.

These are also faboosh. I can honestly say that these are the only cream shadow that doesn’t crease on me without a primer! They are £4.99 here in the UK and are often on a ‘3 for 2’ offer in boots or superdrug. They are widely available and have a smooth formula so you dont tug on your eye while applying. They have 7 colours available in the UK.

(Left to right turquoize forever, eternal gold, on and on bronze)

3) MUA Lipstick

This is not my most used lipstick but I love the creamy texture. They are only £1 in Superdrug. Crazy right? They have a few colours, I have too, the one shown and a bright red, but I dont use the red much so there was no point in showing it. I think they are great value and again have decent pigmentation, some people have even commented before they are comparable to more expensive brands!

(shade 7)

4) Elf Mineral lipgloss

These Ive had a few months now, and I love them. Im not a huge lipgloss fanatic but I do love them every now and then and I find myself reaching for these. They are £3.50 on the elf website and are not sticky atall! If theres one thing I cant stand its a stick lipgloss, but they are smooth and silky. There are 11 shades and they all look beautiful. I have 3 shades.

(left to right au naturale, sorority girl, trophie wife)

5) Sleek powder blushes

I definately saved the best for last! If I could on chose 1 product from the Top 5 I shown it would be these. Where to start. These are great, they all have fantastic pigmentation, and are easy to blend. If I didn’t know they were £4.49 I would have thought they were high-end. I actually prefer them to some of my high-end blushes. There are so many colours and I may be slowly collecting them 🙂

(left to right honour, pomegranate, pixie pink, rose gold)
