Vintage Shopping- MOTD

Published February 8, 2015 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys!

So today me and my friend Klara went to a vintage fair and afterwards we went shopping and for a walk. I live on the coast so on sunny days it’s so nice to take a time out and just relax near the beach (and a bit of retail therapy hurt no one…).

So I thought Id do a MOTD because I was making an effort And this sort of post means I can put in some pretty, atmospheric pictures and a mini haul of things I bought.

Here’s some pictures I took by the beach: SAM_7834SAM_7843SAM_7839

Here’s what I purchased from the vintage fair: SAM_7846

The wax melts are made out of soya wax, in which the fumes are meant to be much better for your lungs as opposed to paraffin wax, so that’s good. And you don’t know HOW good they smell, especially the grapefruit ones (which im burning right now in my elephant oil burner).

I’ve been really liking bows recently as well, I’ve been trying to find hairstyles where I can have my hair natural but it not look really ringletty and messy. So I twist the hair around my face from both sides and bring it to the back on my head, where i clip it in place with a bow. I thought these bows were so pretty, and if you remember from my prom post (I wore a blue flamingo dress), I just had to support the flamingos and bought the bow.

Then, because I have no self control, I went into Lush and Boots. Which for me is a BAD MOVE. SAM_7847

From Lush, I went in for the lipscrub and came out with a facewash and a beautifully smelling shower gel from the mothers day line. I havent tried any of these products before so there’s not much to say!

From boots, I bought a replacement liquid eyeliner from collection. I wear it most days because it’s so easy to use and it’s only £2.99, it’s great and its a really opaque black.

I also bought a moisturizing lip balm from nivea. I think nivea take the award for best drugstore lip balms, Like the eyeliner, they’re cheap and cheerful and make your lips feel hydrated and are good at healing your lips too. It’s been especially cold this last week in the UK and my lips are really feeling it.

Finally, I felt in one of those optimistic moods where you stride into a shop looking for some undiscovered gem amongst  the shelves. And I remember having the lasting finish foundation years ago but I couldn’t remember what it was like. My experience with trying foundations always leads to me being disappointed and going back to revlon colorstay. But who knows? Maybe Rimmel is the dark horse I’m yet to discover.

Products Im wearing:

.Maybelline baby skin primer- cool rose

.Revlon Colorstay foundation- 120 Buff

.Paris Berlin concealer palette

.Collection lasting perfection concealer- Cool Medium

.Rimmel stay matte powder- Translucent

.Sleek faceform kit- medium

.Mac powder blush- well dressed

.Mac mineralise skin finish- soft and gentle

.Avon glow bronzer- Medium riveria

.Rimmel eyebrow pencil- Hazel

.NYX eyebrow cake powder- taupe/soft brown

.Too faced shadow insurance- candlelight

.Mac pro longwear paintpot- painterly

.Urban Decay naked palette- sin, sidecar, smog, darkhorse

.Collection eyeshadow pencil- french lace

.Collection 24 hour liquid liner- black

.Maybelline falsies mascara- black

.Red cherry lashes- 47  and revlon clear eyelash glue

Holy hell that’s a lot of makeup…

Thanks for reading! Have a fabulous rest of the week!

Christmas/Halloween LUSH Haul!

Published October 12, 2014 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So one of my favourite times each year is when Lush releases their christmas collection. When I think of Lush, I think: Smiles, glitter, colour and in-your-face scents. And to make it better lush is 100% cruelty free which makes me hold lush close to heart as im vegetarian for the cruelty reason aswell.

So Lush’s christmas collection came out on the 4th of October this year, and being the crazed lush fan I am, I went on sunday morning for a nose around the collection, and here’s what I got.

1) Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar    £3.50 eachSAM_7376

This is from the Halloween collection, And I just couldn’t resist because LOOK AT ALL THAT GLITTER. Im pretty sure I wont say that with so much enthusiasm when Im cleaning it out of my bath though…

Aside from its gorgeous appearance, it smells mainly like lime but mixed with that typical lush-shop smell (Im sorry, I cant explain scents!). Either way, I can wait to have a relaxing bath next friday at the end of the week with this as a treat. 🙂

Lush describe it as smelling like Lime, Juniperberry and grapefruit oils. And where as I couldnt tell you what juniperberry smells like, Id agree with the other 2. Id definately get this bubblebar if you are a fan of fruity/soapy scents.

2) Snowfairy shower gel    £3.75/100g   £7.50/250g   £11.95/500g

Any hardcore Lush fan will recognise the beloved scent that is snowfairy. It’s a very sweet, girly, bubblegum scent, and to top it off, IT HAS GLITTER IN IT ASWELL!

Despite what I just said, I think this shower is unisex because even my 19 year old brother likes it and I notice some of it disappears when he has a shower!

I love that the shower gel isnt the only snowfairy fragrenced product lush do. Others include: Snowfairy sparkle shimmer bar, the magic band bubble bar and the godmother soap (whichhankfully is available all year round). Id recommend snow fairy as a gift to anyone regardless of age or gender, you cant not like snowfairy. You just cant.

3) Butterbear Bath bomb    £1.95 each

Lush have this bath bomb out every year but just in different forms, last time it was a snowman. The guy who served me in lush said they’d already sold loads of these (after just 1 day of it being out!) because of the cute shape, I think the cheaper price also helped that aswell though.

This smells like vanilla and cocoa butter. The little dark chunks are actually cocoa butter and they melt in the bath to turn the water very creamy and moisturising. This is F A B U L O U S if you have dry skin as when you get out the bath it leaves a layer on your skin. I personally find it a little greasy but I have very oily skin anways.

You can get the original butterball which is exactly the same (apart from the shape) all year round, so If you’re on a budget id miss this out and try things which are limited edition in the range. However, for a cheaper gift or stocking filling this would be very cute and also relatively inexpensive.

4) The Melting Snowman Bath melt     £2.25 each

Im actually dying, these things make he smile each time I see them. Fun fact, I actually picked the most derpy one they had on display. If snowmen could have bad plastic surgery, this would be the result.

But now onto the smell. Its a very warm, spicy scent. It smells very strongly of cinnamon and clove. I tend not to like these scents loads but especially around halloween cinnamon is just so comforting. The bath melts from lush tend to be more moisturing than bath bombs and bubble bars so some people may prefer that.

These are also one of the cheaper product in the christmas range, so spicy scents are your thing, try it! And please pick a more messed up looking one. What snowmans perfect anyway?

5) Reindeer Rock Soap      £3.10/100g

This is probably one of my favourite things in the collection this year, purely because I love berry scents. It smells like the comforter bubble bar but a bit stronger. One of its main scents is lingonberry which reminds me just a bit too much of the lingonberry drink at IKEA.

Id definately recommend this,if like me intense fruit scents are your thing, then smother yourself in this. Make yourself smell like a gigantic human berry.

6) Yog Nog soap      £3.40/100g

As you may have guess from the name, this is meant to smell like egg nog.

Now im not sure if the UK are out of touch with it, but you cannot find eggnog anywhere. Kind of like there’s nothing pumpkin flavoured like there is in the US. But the soap smells like nutmeg and clove. It’s one of the more creamy soaps at lush which is good because some of the soaps dont lather at all which is annoying.

Im so surprised that ive picked up yet another spicy scent from lush. This isn’t like me at all, but its a very warm smell like the melting snowman is.  The decoration on the soap is pretty too, one thing lush excel at is makng their products look glorious.

I hope you enjoyed my haul, comment below if you’ve bought something from the collection you love or have a mental wishlist of what you want to get.

Thanks for reading, have a fabulous week.

Makeup Revolution Haul/Review!

Published May 20, 2014 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So a couple of weeks ago I ordered from Makeup Revolution, which I had never heard of before until recently. Its an affordable brand with tons of products in multiple shades, and most of the stuff is £1! No you are not hallucinating…£1 like the one pound fish man but with lipsticks…

Anyway I ordered 6 lipsticks out of pure curiosity and also because I’ve never seen a yellow lipstick, nor known where to get one. So I went a bit colour crazy in hope that I might unlock a unquenchable desire for blue or purple lips one day. I thought that it would be a interesting brand to share and I might order some of the eyeshadows or nail varnishes next; the colour range is fantastic.

Here are the lipsticks:

Really this post has no purpose, I was just so intrigued by the colours and thought some of you may get as excited as I do over things like these. I found the purple, orange and pink to be very smooth, and the other colours harder and a bit more waxy. The pigmentation was generally very good too, the yellow didn’t blow me away however im not sure if it’s because it bright yellow or it was weaker shade.

Here are some pictures of me wearing them:

Amazing Lipstick- Depraved

Amazing Lipstick- Immoral

Image                                            Amazing Lipstick- Vice

Amazing Lipstick- Encore

Amazing Lipstick- Nude

The yellow lipstick was in the shade ‘felony‘ however I couldn’t take a good picture of it on. Needless to say, I think that shade will only be making appearances at halloween!

Overall I was impressed with the lipsticks I tried. I loved the purple and orange, and was pleasantly  surprised. They’re very vivid and eyecatching, in the best of ways. Overall the brand reminds me of MUA, by the high quality at a low price. The biggest fault I can think of is the loose packaging so put in your handbag with care!

And if you live in the US and havent already, enter my giveaway! > https://majormakeupmadness123.wordpress.com/2014/05/17/giveaway-thesalonoutlet/

I hope you enjoyed reading, have a fabulous res of the week!

Haul! (Christmas lush, beauiticology and Hello kitty… lots of it!)

Published October 9, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys!

So as many of you know from my last post I went shopping on saturday. I bought many things and would like to share them with you (as im over excited!). Im only showing the things I got for myself as the other stuff was early christmas shopping and I bought presents for my friends. And I dont want them to see what they got!

So without further ado, heres my ‘stuff ‘ Image

So im gonna start with the Lush stuff as it was the first shop I went to. Unknown to me til later,I spent over an hour in that shop! Well.. I do like Lush afterall.

I bought 4 products for myself in lush (quite a hold-back from me really).

First I bought Let the good times roll cleanser. It works like other lush cleansers you take a small piece, rub with with water and use on your face. Its meant to be for dry sensitive skin. It also has cinnamon in it which caught my eye. Cinnamon is very good at calming down redness and can even help with scars.  Its £ 5.95 for a 100g pot and both me and my friend bought them.

Next I bought Mr. Punch soap (the colourful block in the picture). I knew I would love this just from the description, but its to die for! The lady in lush told me its meant to resemble the fruits in Pimms. The soap really sugary and blackcurrent smelling. Amazing at describing scents aren’t I? its £3.75 per 100g

I then got Ponche shower gel, its meant to be mexican inspired, it smells orangey and boozy. I always get snow fair so I wanted to get a different shower gel for once. Its £4.25 for 100g and its fricken orange! Got to love the colour orange.

Then I got ‘Santa’s Sack’ bubble bar. Yep, I laughed too. Its got to me one of my top 3 products this christmas. I have yet to use it but it smells like coke and christmas. If there was christmas coca cola this would be the smell! You have to try it out! It has 2 mini bubble bars made of reusable bubble bar mix, surrounded by a softer red, regular bubble bar mix. Its £4.15 each.

Now onto hello kitty! The 3 tins you see are from boots as part of their ‘hello kitty for liberty range’ Im not joking, I want all of the stuff! The set was £6 and feature’s a pale pink, a light peach and a coral. They are sort of a mix between lipgloss and lip balm. Heres some swatches! The Far left one isnt one of the lip tints Image

Now with the helloe kitty nail polish and lipstick. They were both found in superdrug, I saw them for the first time and freaked out! They’re so cute! The lipstick is in the shade ‘Betz Believe’and was £3.99 Its the first swatch on the left.

The nail polish is a beautiful pink-purple, it’s in the shade ‘get dat thang’ and was £4.99.

The last thing was a shower gel from beauticology. It was £4 from boots. As the name suggests it has a sweet gingerbread smell which is to die for! It makes me feel all christmasy inside and will greatly enjoy it when I use it. It reminds me of gingerbread houses.

Thats my haul! Thanks for erading everyone! Much love xoxo

Have you checked out the Mac Casual Colour collection yet? + Mini haul

Published June 8, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

So today I went shopping. I didn’t get much, but I had a good look around. I especially spent a while in Mac. I bought 2 things in total and got given a free Zoomlash Mascara sample (So I guess I got 3 things ! 🙂 ) I also got a top from New Look but I will show that later on in the post.

And may I say the people helping me at mac were SO nice, they really brightened up my day! 🙂

Heres what I bought:

. Eyeshadow – Coppering £12.00

.Casual Colour collection – Lip & Cheek Colour in ‘Keep It Loose’  £17.50

. Zoom Lash Mascara Sample

Heres what it looks like opened! Image

I love these products, I had wanted ‘Coppering’ for ages, so I got it. I was tempted to get ‘Aquadisiac’ to fill up my 4 pan palette, but I wanted coppering in a single pot so it’s easy to travel with.

As for the blush, I was debating between ‘Dolly Mix’ powder blush and the Lip and cheek colour in ‘Keep it Loose’. I eventually came to the conclusion I should get the lip and cheek colour as its limited edition, and mac dont usually sell them. I was happy it had a dual purpose!

Heres a picture of the swatches! Image

As you can see they’re very beautiful.

Heres me wearing coppering and zoom lash. Coppering is great if you have green eyes as the red tones bring out the green in your eyes. (as they are opposite ends of the colour wheel). ImageImage

And here’s my new top, it was £16.99 from Newlook Image

So, have you checked out the recent collections from MAC?

Whats your favourites from Mac?

Id love you hear your responses, so please comment below!

Thank You for reading! Have a great weekend!

Nail Polish collection!!!!!

Published May 20, 2012 by majormakeupmadness

Hey guys,

Soory ive been a bit MIA in the last week, lots of stuff just popped up. Im doing a nail polish collection post as my nial pollish posts usually get the best response. Im not doing this to brag, but I was sorting out my nail polishes and thought – why not?  If you want to know any of the names percificately jut comment bellow but most of them are quite obvious/ or have the name on the front.

So without further ado ,here it is!

Ive organised them by colour : reds&corals, purples/pinks, other, blue&greens .

Did you like the effect? a row at a time…..

I have an addiction to nail polishes, can you tell?  I find the colours so pretty, and pretty much always have my nails painted at the weekends without fail unless in doing a post in the middle of the week about nails. Is it just me being weird, or does anyone else find the rainbow of colours above fasinating? Reminds me of unicorns….

So, quite a random post today, did you like it? Comment below!

Thank you for reading! 😀
