Hey guys,
I’ve never been one to obsess over skincare. The way I saw it was ‘take off your makeup, wash you face and moisturize’. I never understood why people would spend £20+ for a cleanser when it stays on your face like 2.5 seconds before you wash it off. However, in the last few weeks I’ve been investing in good skincare. I still wouldn’t pay for ridiculously priced skincare like ‘creme de la mer’ or ‘dermalogica’ but I think slightly higher priced skincare often does the trick.
So here’s an overview of my skincare:
L to R:
.Liz Earle cleansing polish 50ml pump £8.50
.Korres Pomegranate tonic lotion 200ml £14.00
.Korres Pomegranate Moisturizing cream-gel oily/combination skin 40ml £19.00
.Korres Wild rose instant brightening mask 16ml £7.00
.Korres Pomegranate cleansing scrub 16ml £7.00
If you didnt already know, I have a very oily skin type, so I try to minimize oil production with cleansers and toners but as the same time moisturise my skin so I don’t set my skin in oil-production-overdrive. I separate my skincare into 2 sections: everyday products and special products (as shown below).
This is my everyday skincare. In the morning I double cleanse my face with the Liz Earle cleansing polish, then pour toner on a cotton pad and wipe all over my face and neck. Finally I take able a pea sized amount of moisturizer and spread all over my face and neck. I do exactly the same in the evening but I take my makeup off first. I didn’t include a makeup remover simply because I don’t have a favourite.
This is my ‘special’ skincare. I exfoliate my skin in the evening every other day (on average). It may sound a lot, however my pore get really clogged (ew, I know..) so exfoliating is my attempt at minimizing this.
The other product is the Korres Wild rose brightening mask. The ‘wild rose’ range from Korres is more aimed at drier skins, however I think every skin type can benefit from a moisturizing mask. It’s also brightening so makes your skin look revitalized after use. I tend to use this about 2-3 times a week in the evening. I tend to leave it on for an hour and do work or read whilst having it on (looking beautiful and being productive- what’s not to love!).
So thats my basic skincare. I took some no-makeup photos to show the state of my skin now. You cant truly see all my inperfections, but I dont have any active breakouts. I still get the occasional blemish but it’s not an often occurance. My biggest skin problem is acne scars, but there’s nothing immediate I can do about that. Heres my skin now:
Of course, there’s only so much that products can do. I personally think that the best way to clear up your skin is too drink lots of water. I know it sounds cliche but its really the best way. < Poetic as hell right there.
Anyway, Thanks for reading, have a fabulous weekend! What are your favourite skincare products?
XOXO
Really want to try the Liz Earle cleanser! x
You should! I thought it was a gimmick but it’s really good and doesn’t strip the skin either. x
Somebody likes Korres.. I get the issue of clogged pores in combination with oily skin, hard to really attack them both without ending up with overly dry or really oily skin. And you still look good without the make-up! Buying a waterbottle asap.
This literally is my whole korroes collection- honest! The pore thing is horrible, I feel you girl! Its a balancing act with oil skin, I always seem off balance somewhere. Water cures everything..well..sometimes…
Thanks 🙂 x
Your skin looks lovely I may have to try the rose mask for my normal/dry skin!
Aw thank you. You should its really smooth and moisturizing and it doesn’t go hard like most facemasks when you put it on. 🙂 x
You hit it on the head there: best way to clear up skin: drink lots of water, then drink some more. But a good skin care routine will go a long way too. Lots of good tips here. If you have a moment I would be a happy blogger over if you would link this up to my weekly beauty party. Please and Thank You
